I start up my game, and it's fine for about 2 minutes, then begins to lag.

I have bad lag, but it could be for a number of reasons.

Now it might just be the fact that my computer is old, and it may be overheating a little (it's not air conditioned ). I have, however, tried running my computer after turning it off for an hour and leaving the case whide open, while waving my Processor's heat sync around to cool it. I still get lag after 2 minutes.

I'm in EST, and I use European servers, that might cause some problems.

However, I have not in the past had any problems with my computer running this game, even on european servers.

Whenever there's a weekend event, I lag like crazy / disconnect. Very annoying.

I haven't really had much lag issues. Rather, none at all. I am having that sound issue from time to time (where it seems to cut out, then back on), and that is completely new. Never had any sound problems before this weekend.

Would be interesting to see which realm is suffering from the Lag. I take any bet on it being European Servers again as a lot of people i know that play on Europe are suffering from insane lag (me too).
Damn lag actually cost my new char the Survivor Title. The game just stopped responding for 1 full minute after which i found my char with 15% DP -.-

Bitter sweet.
We were once told to just look up at that page but just out of experience by the time the site is updated to reflect the issues is normally when the issues have been rampant enough to start a huge fire. And by then everyone knows it anyways.

How do you wave your processor's heat sink around?

If you want to check temps you can get a program called speedfan which does a decent job of it. That'll tell you if there's a heat problem.

That is the best quote ever!

You might be mixing up some case fan with heatsink. Just do some research to get the terminology straight. On the other hand, processors aren't the only components that can overheat. It could more likely be your graphics card overheating, or even more likely nothing is overheating, you computer just :sucks:

If it was overheating it would probably be crashing, not lagging, or after a while of lagging it would crash.

Do you use wireless internet?
Background spyware or such running?

I was lagging inside outposts, but then I just went to international districts and bye bye lag.

If you only lag in outposts/towns it's more likely that it's your graphics card that can't keep up with all the chars there.

Overall I don't see why there should be more lag during event than during normal weekends - remember you are in a district not on ONE server hosting a lot of people (unlike games like WoW and such)

Hmm, I'm not lagging at all. I'm more worried about the 2 8v2's then 1 7v3 I had in a row today

TCP 6112 and TCP 80

Also note that playing over wireless is not recommended, as a wireless connection can often suffer from momentary glitches. You connection will still appear to be fine and internet or other services will still be running fine - they are less susceptible to momentary glitches - however Guild Wars will see that data has stopped coming in, and may result in either lag or disconnection. Note that the further away you are from the wireless router/modem (or if there is any other issue that may cause signal loss, such as thick walls) the more likely you are to experience a problem of this type.

Having said that, I always play over wireless at home .
